Second — the thermostat. A thermostatic mixer keeps the temperature steady when water is drawn elsewhere, and protects against scalding. For families and children this is the most important feature, not a luxury.

Third — pressure and flow. Check the pressure in your home: if it is low, choose a head and mixer rated for it. Water-saving technologies cut consumption without taking away the sensation.
